DOHA: Simaisma Beach, a popular family destination located 40km north of the capital, will be closed starting today, June 10, for a period of five years to facilitate the development of the ambitious Simaisma tourism project, according to a report by Arabic news outlet Al Sharq.
The large-scale project, spearheaded by Qatari Diar, is positioned as one of Qatar’s most significant future tourism ventures. It aims to redefine tourism and entertainment in the country by offering visitors and residents a year-round, immersive experience.
Spanning approximately 8 million square meters, the development will stretch across a 7-kilometer strip along Qatar’s picturesque eastern coastline. The master plan is designed to blend natural coastal beauty with cutting-edge infrastructure, including a first-of-its-kind outdoor cooling system that enables comfortable open-air activities even during the hotter months.
The project will feature 16 distinct tourism zones, each planned for future development. Central to the design are four major resort areas, each crafted with its own unique architectural style and cultural identity, ensuring a diverse and rich experience for all types of visitors.
This initiative reflects Qatar’s broader strategy to boost tourism, diversify its economy, and enhance quality of life for both residents and tourists.
