Education City Stadium

Education City Stadium is located in Al Rayyan, about 7 kilometers northwest of central Doha, within Qatar Foundation’s Education City. Known as the “Diamond in the Desert,” it was completed and opened in June 2020. The stadium hosted several matches during the 2022 FIFA World Cup, including six group stage games, one round of 16 match, and one quarter-final.

The stadium’s façade features a dynamic diamond-like geometric pattern that changes color with the sun’s movement, creating a striking visual effect. Initially, it had a seating capacity of 40,000, which was reduced to 25,000 after the World Cup by removing the upper tier. The removed seats were donated to developing countries. Education City Stadium has earned a five-star rating from the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS), highlighting its commitment to environmental responsibility.

Today, the stadium serves as a venue for university athletic events and community activities. It is easily accessible via the Doha Metro Green Line, with the nearest stop named “Education City.”
